Citizens entitled to dissent on children's poll - The Irish Times - Fri, Jun 11, 2010: "SOME POLITICIANS appear to have problems grasping the basic idea of democracy: that the people, not their representatives, are sovereign. Nowhere is this more obvious than in relation to the Constitution which, 73 years ago, the “people of Éire” gave themselves. The Constitution of Ireland, or Bunreacht na hÉireann, is the final arbiter of fundamental questions affecting our society, a circumstance that some politicians clearly regard with impatience."
